Foreign minister says Ukraine has fulfilled requirements for visa liberalisation
The outcome of the referendum in the Netherlands on ratification of the Ukraine-E.U. Association Agreement will not interfere with Ukraine-E.U. visa liberalisation process, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said during an interview with Inter TV channel.
"There are clear assurances [of European officials] that the visa-free regime is a completely separate path. And if the European Commission gives the go-ahead, while the relevant decision has already been drafted within the European Commission that Ukraine had fulfilled completely all the requirements on its path to a visa-free regime, then we are moving toward a visa-free regime," Klimkin said.
On April 6, the Netherlands held an advisory referendum on Ukraine-E.U. Association Agreement.
According to the data of ANP Verkiezingsdienst electoral service published by NOS television broadcaster, 38.1% of votes were cast in support of the Agreement's ratification, while 61.1% of the Dutch voted against the move.
The official data on the outcome of the referendum is expected to be announced by the Electoral Council of the Netherlands on April 12.
