Putin insists on a preliminary meeting of the four countries representatives to take place before the Presidents meeting
Dmitry Peskov, Putin's press secretary, says there is no specified date when the Normandy Group negotiations (Ukraine, Germany, France, Russia) on Donbas conflict will take place, according to the Russian news agency Interfax.
Russia's President Vladimir Putin has stated the meeting of the Normandy Four in Berlin will be reasonable only if the experts of the four countries have reached some progress. Otherwise, it is too early to talk about the meeting.
"If there is no agreement on the level of advisors, then it will be early to convene a Normandy meeting on the highest level", Putin said.
Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko has claimed Ukraine is ready for such a meeting if Russia is willing to perform its obligations in a security field under the Minsk deal.
"We need to elaborate the agenda and draft decisions first. And if Russia is ready to observe its obligations in the security field, we (Presidents of France, Germany and Ukraine) are ready to hold such a meeting any time", Poroshenko stated.
