NATO fighters escort Russia's Il-20 near Latvian airspace

On August 12 the fighter jets of NATO's Baltic Air Policing mission have again spotted a Russian military aircraft in a close proximity to the Latvian airspace.

Latvia's National Armed Forces reported on Twitter that this time it was a Russia's Ilyushin IL -20 reconnaissance aircraft. It was intercepted over the Baltic Sea.

Latvia has repeatedly stated that both Russian warships and warplanes approach its borders.

On July 25 three Russian aircraft were intercepted by NATO forces, and on August 6 three Russian warships were again detected near Latvia.
