Ukrainian pilot and MP has repeatedly called on direct negotiations with Donbas separatists
The leader of the so-called Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) Ihor Plotnitsky ordered to create a workgroup which would conduct talks with Ukrainian MP Nadiya Savchenko, militant websites report on Wednesday.
In particular, Plotnitsky said that Savchenko voiced readiness to meet with some fighters, so she could talk to those LPR "deputies" who took part in the battle, where the Ukrainian MP was taken prisoner.
"I think we can create a kind of a deputy group, of three persons. Basically, we can talk as a deputy to a deputy, if one wants to find a compromise and resolve the situation peacefully,"- he said.
The militant leader reportedly gave instructions to get in touch with Savchenko, and pledged to guarantee her security if she comes to Luhansk.
For the first time Savchenko came up with the initiative of direct talks with Donbas militants at the beginning of June, but Ukraine's SBU security service did not support the idea.
The military officer, formerly imprisoned in Russia, says the main aim of the would-be talks is to secure the release of all Ukrainian prisoners.
