Massive exercises kick off in Siberia

20 thousand of soldiers take part in the drills

Motorized rifle units, tank and artillery forces, S-300 and S-400 missile complexes crews were woken up with a quick reaction drill.

All troops were sent to firing ranges to train with all kinds of battle actions. The drills will last five days and the grounds in Western and Southern Siberia.

The snap exercises started at the end of August when president Putin announced the full test of the Russian army. In September, strategic staff exercises "Caucasus 2016" took part. Several days ago, Russia conducted joint military exercises with Serbia.


Yesterday, on October 17, joint Russian-Egyptian anti-terrorist exercises "Defenders of Friendship 2016" started. 

Russia conducted dozens of such snap exercises after Crimea annexation and the start of Donbas armed conflict.
