Nuland in Moscow to talk eastern Ukraine

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State holds consultations with Russia's Foreign Ministry

U.S. Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland has arrived in the Russia's Foreign Ministry in Moscow to discuss the situation in eastern Ukraine with the country's officials.

On Wednesday Nuland is expected to meet with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov.

On May 17 she held consultations with Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov, who is seen by many as a mastermind of Kremlin's undeclared war in Donbas and the creator of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, which Ukraine considers a terrorist organization.

After Russia, Nuland will head for Brussels to join a U.S. delegation led by Secretary of State John Kerry.
