Conversation occurred amid concerns about Washington's possible shift toward Russia
Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with the U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday evening, November 15, according to the official website of the Ukrainian leader.
The talks occurred amid strong concerns about a possible shift in the American foreign vector towards Russia, after Trump officially moves into the White House.
Poroshenko accentuated the readiness to work with the Trump administration and called for further strengthening of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
‘Petro Poroshenko also stressed the need for Washington's resolute support of Ukraine in countering the Russian aggression and implementing crucial reforms', the message said.
Trump's stance on the relations with Ukraine wasn't specified in the report, although it said the Presidents agreed to maintain contacts, ‘including bilateral meetings'.
Poroshenko also invited Trump to visit Ukraine.
