Rescue work at Rostov plane crash site completed: officials

The Russian airport is expected to remain closed until at least March 21

Rescue work has been completed at Russia's Rostov-on-Don Airport after Saturday's plane crash (March 19).

That news comes from state-media, citing senior officials within Russia's Emergencies Ministry.

Eight Ukrainians were among the 62 who died when their Flydubai flight crashed on its second attempt to land. Russian investigators are examining the cause of the tragedy - crew error, a technical failure and bad weather conditions are among the theories.

Several hundred friends and family members of the victims are in Rostov - with more expected to arrive throughout the day.
