Russia applies for agrement – permission to appoint a new Russian ambassador to Ukraine

Moscow wants Mikhail Babich to take up this post

Moscow has requested Kyiv's preliminary agreement to appoint Mikhail Babich as new Ambassador to Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Friday.

Mikhail Babich is a Presidential Envoy to Privolzhsky federal district.

Peskov told UNIAN agency he did not know yet whether Ukraine approved the agrement. All the diplomatic procedures are still in progress.

On July 28 President Putin dismissed Mikhail Zurabov. Sergey Toropov is the Charge D'Affairs in Ukraine now.
