The draft press statement of the Security Council expressed deep concerns about the reports of civilian deaths in the Syrian refugee camps on May 5. The document urged all sides to respect the norms of international humanitarian law and human rights, and to immediately start investigation of the airstrikes.

On May 6, Ukraine initiated a draft press statement by the UN Security Council. During the vote, Russia was the only Security Council member to block the draft.
