Kerry meets Steinmeier in Moscow before talks with Russia's Putin

Russia's plans in Syria are expected to dominate talks

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met with German Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier in Moscow on Wednesday, a day before he is due to meet with President Vladimir Putin to discuss Russia's role in Syria.

Kerry discussed his concerns about Syria with Steinmeier ahead of his meeting with Putin.

The meeting at the Kremlin comes on the heels of the Russian leader's surprise announcement on March 14 that he was partially withdrawing his forces from Syria.
