Russia recruits 600 Donbas mercenaries for Syria - Ukraine official

'In the near future, they will be deployed in Syria by yet another ‘Syrian Express', Ukraine's Border Guard service spokesman said

Russia has allegedly recruited approximately 600 people in separatist-held territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, who agreed to fight in Syria alongside Moscow's forces.

This is reported by Ukraine's Border Guard Service press secretary Oleh Slobodyan, according Ukrainian news agency UNIAN. 

'The movement of Russian troops continues through the temporarily uncontrolled stretch of the border in the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. At the moment, activities continue aimed at the selection of volunteers from among the Russian mercenaries in the occupied areas of Donbas for participation in the Syria fighting as part of the Russian contingent,' mr. Slobodyan claimed.

He added the mercenaries had already left the Donbas warzone through the militant-controlled border with Russia. They allegedly arrived in Rostov fully armed and equipped. 

'In the near future, they will be deployed in Syria by yet another ‘Syrian Express', Slobodyan said.
