Lavrov says European partners agreed with Russia that Donbas elections couldn't be delayed due to "security issue"
Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister, thinks that due to slow progress of the Minsk agreements implementation, foreign partners have stopped interfering with relations of Ukraine with its neighbors.
According to TASS Russian News Agency, Lavrov made the above statement during a meeting with students in Belarusian State University, hinting that Ukraine is the one that prevents the Agreements from being fully implemented.
"Unfortunately, not everything depends on us but lately foreign partners have understood what is the heart of the matter and who is responsible for a deadlock", Lavrov claimed.
Referring to his opinion, the above-mentioned fact and slow implementation of Minsk have changed the attitude of Europe and the U.S. to Ukraine.
"Now nobody denies the importance of observing the Minsk agreements", the Russian Foreign Minister added.
Head of Russia's Foreign Ministry Sergei Lavrov stated after the latest Normandy Four talks that the representatives of Ukraine, Russia, France and Germany had agreed on armaments withdrawal and a ceasefire in the Donbas. He also said that Germany and France agreed with Russia that elections on the occupied territory couldn't be delayed due to "security issue" and emphasized on amnesty to militants as well as the law on the special status of the Donbas.
