Russia begins army drills in annexed Crimea

The troops learn to support their navy

Russian Defence Ministry says that the units practice towing vessels in distress, fire extinguishing on shipboards, electromagnetic treatment of vessels and sudden ship repair at sea.

Many different vessels are involved in the exercises: degaussing vessels, vessel repair ships, tankers and transport ships that deliver weaponry.

Russian troops also plan to have some on-land drills in Crimea, including landing operations.
