Parliamentary Assembly plans two discussions of "Ukrainian question" today

PACE deputies are taking part in two debates about Ukraine today. First, they plan to discuss the resolution draft "Political consequences of the conflict in Ukraine", and then – "Legal remedies for human rights violations on the Ukrainian territories outside the control of the Ukrainian authorities".

A group of PACE members, consisting of Ukrainian, British and Swedish delegates, proposes to add an amendment to the resolution on political consequences of the conflict in Ukraine. They want to replace the words "of the military conflict in Ukraine" with the following words: "of the Russian attempt to annex the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and further military aggression in the east of Ukraine".

More than 40 MEPs from all political groups registered to take part in the debates.

The autumn session started on October 10th with a scandal. PACE President Pedro Agramunt called the Assembly to return the Russian delegation. This outraged the Ukrainian delegation. Ukraine's Foreign Ministry said the move is unacceptable as it would be an international law violation.
