One Ukrainian soldier killed, another four injured over the past 24 hours

Militants attack Ukraine 36 times in Donbas region 

The combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine 36 times in the past 24 hours, including 17 times in the Mariupol sector, 15 times in the Donetsk sector and four times in the Luhansk sector, according to the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) Headquarters.

"In the Mariupol sector, Ukrainian strongholds near Maryinka, Novotroitske and Hranitne were attacked with small arms, and near Maryinka also with BMP weapons. At dusk, militants stepped up their attacks, which continued till midnight, firing at Ukrainian positions near Starohnativka and Taramchuk with machine guns and grenade launchers. Additionally, they used mortars of various calibers to attack near Vodiane, Talakivka and Chermalyk," a statement reads.

In the Donetsk sector, Ukrainian strongholds near Troitske, Novoselivka Druha and Avdiyivka came under mortar fire three times, while the Ukrainian positions near Zaitseve and Novhorodske were attacked with heavy machine guns and automatic grenade launchers.

The Ukrainian strongholds near Putylivska coal mine were attacked with small arms and mortars, and near Opytne – with BMP weapons.

"In the Luhansk sector, Russian mercenaries shelled Ukrainian positions in the area near Popasna with anti-tank missiles, and they used automatic grenade launchers and 82 mm mortars to attack Ukrainian army positions near Novooleksandrivka and Novozvanivka," military officials reported.
