Russian proxies attack Ukraine troops 46 times in last day

Militants use the banned weapons to launch attacks on Ukrainian forces

The combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine 46 times in the past 24 hours, according to the military press center.

"In the Donetsk sector, the illegal armed groups fired 120mm and 82mm mortars near the towns of Avdiyivka and Krasnohorivka, and the villages of Novhorodske and Nevelske," the press center said.

Eight Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in Donbas in last day.

"In the Mariupol sector, in addition to mortars, the enemy violated the Minsk agreements and fired cannon artillery near the villages of Berezove and Novotroyitske. The Kremlin-backed invaders were also active near the town of Maryinka. After dark and during the night, the militants attacked the Ukrainian positions 15 times, using infantry fighting vehicles, small arms, rocket-propelled grenades and mortars. In addition, the snipers were working there," the report says.

The Russian-backed mercenaries also fired banned weapons on Ukrainian forces near the villages of Slavne, Taramchuk and Shyrokyne, as well as small caliber weapons near the villages of Stanytsia Luhanska, Verkhniotoretske, Triokhizbenka and Hranitne.

"The Ukrainian military had to return fire 19 times in order to hold their positions," the press center said.
