Poroshenko held phone conference with French and German leaders
Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko held a telephone conversation with French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on April 15.
The leaders of France and Germany welcomed Ukraine's newly-elected Government and wished the officials success in implementing reforms.
Ukraine's President reported on the constant deterioration of the situation in the Donbas conflict zone and called on his French and German counterparts to enhance their pressure on Russia to help secure ceasefire.
"It is difficult to discuss a possibility of preparing local elections in eastern Ukraine unless general security as well as police mission issues are settled", Poroshenko said.
The parties coordinated the approaches towards prospects of introducing the OSCE police mission in the Donbas region and discussed the issue of extending sanctions against Russia over its failure to comply with the Minsk agreements.
Petro Poroshenko, Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande focused on the deteriorating health of Nadiya Savchenko and urged the Kremlin to immediately release her, as stated in the Minsk agreements.
The visa-free regime for Ukraine and the Dutch referendum results were also on agenda.
