In Minsk, Trilateral contact group on Ukraine meets once again to discuss releasing hostages
Trilateral contact group meets in Belarus capital today, on November 9. The group unites representatives of Ukraine, Russia, and OSCE. It was created to facilitate a diplomatic resolution to the war in Donbas region of Ukraine.
This time the representatives will discuss the ceasefire, safe environment for civilians and will raise once again the question of releasing the hostages. Tony Frisch, the OSCE coordinator, will report on his visit to the prisons on the temporarily occupied territories where hostages are kept.
On Tuesday, the humanitarian subgroup gathered in Minsk to work separately, told Ukrainian MP Iryna Gerashchenko. The subgroup also discussed checkpoint safety, the Ukrainian side insisted that the ICRC and the OSCE permanent posts should be located near all checkpoints.
The subgroup also talked about access to information about internally displaced persons. Ukraine is still unable to receive data from Russia about the quantity of Ukrainian citizens that moved from Donbas to the Russian Federation - and their status.
According to Iryna Gerashchenko, during the meeting the representatives of the separate areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions recognized that there are some fake firms that issue faked pensioner's identity documents and documents for receiving welfare payments.
