Social Policy Ministry reveals number of Ukraine's IDPs

Officials claim most displaced families have already received financial aid

The Ministry of Social Policy has stated more than 1.7 mln internally displaced persons have been registered in Ukraine since the beginning of Russian aggression in Crimean peninsula and Donbas region.

"According to local government administrations, as of April 25, 2016, there are 1 million 780,245 internally displaced persons from Donbas and Crimea registered, which is 1 million 448,265 families," the statement reads.

The Ministry also said 806,444 families have applied for financial assistance, and 775,237 of them have already received it.

Since the beginning of 2016, the amount of financial aid granted to the IDPs has reached USD 46,000.
