Staggering death toll statistics in the war in eastern Ukraine

Defence Ministry reports more than 2,490 soldiers killed by Russian-terrorist forces in the past two years

2,491 Ukrainian servicemen and women died over the past two years of the war in eastern Ukraine. The non-combat death toll is also notably high adding up to 1,294 servicemen.

This is according to Andriy Verba, the Head of the Military Medical Department of Ukraine's Ministry of Defence.

"Currently, temporary casualties include 8,130 soldiers; irreplaceable combat losses, unfortunately, 2,491 soldiers have been killed during the last two years, 29 soldiers were killed just last May", Verba said during the briefing in Kyiv.

"Since 2014, over 200 servicemen were sent abroad for medical treatment," Verba added.

As reported previously, since the beginning of the summer, five Ukrainian soldiers were killed, and 75 – wounded.
