Saakashvili officially presented his new party and demanded the re- election of the Verkhovna Rada
A rally for Mikheil Saakashvili and his newly established ‘Rukh Novykh Syl' (Movement of New Forces) rally was held today in Kyiv's downtown area. Hundreds of people from across Ukraine attended the event, LІGA.net reports.
The rally was held with the slogan "This is Rada's last winter." Leaflets on "Rada's 100 broken promises" and "Our demands" info were shared among participants. They were holding flags of Ukraine, the European Union, Georgia and small Ukrainian party ‘5.10'.
Addressing the meeting, Saakashvili called on the protesters to demand a re-election of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, so that's why today's action was called "The last winter of this Rada." Also Saakashvili accused the current government of not fulfilling campaign promises, ineffective fight against corruption and ignoring the need for reforms in Ukraine. Participants were chanting "Off with the gang!"
The gathering lasted for less than an hour. Police say about 1,500 people joined the event, Interfax-Ukraine reports about 2,000 participants.
As reported, on November 7 Saakashvili announced resignation as Odesa Governor and accused Poroshenko of corruption support. Odesa Customs chief Yulia Marushevska aslo left her position after a year in office.
