'March of reunion' marks the 98th anniversary since Bessarabia rejoined E.U. nation
Thousands of people have gathered at a rally in Moldova on Sunday. The demonstrators are asking for Moldova to unite with its E.U. neighbour Romania. Authorities say the event went off without any incidents. The protesters claim unification with Romania is one of the ways to move past corruption in the eastern European nation.
The so-called 'march of reunion' is meant to mark the ninety-eigth anniversary of the reunification of Bessarabia (which covers the territory of Moldova and Ukraine today) with Romania on March 27, 1918.
