Common values would never let these ties break, European Council president believes
After Donald Trump's victory, there's an uncertainty in relations between the EU and U.S., the European Council president Donald Tusk claimed on Wednesday, the UNIAN agency reports.
"This morning we congratulated the president-elect Donald Trump with the victory. With our respect for the American people's democracy, we are however aware of the challenges brought by this result. One of them at this stage is an uncertainty of the future of our transatlantic relations", he said.
The United States will stay a strong partner for the EU, Tusk also noted.
The European migrants developed America in the past and the US in its part made the biggest contribution to the reconstruction of the EU, in his opinion.
"Our ties repeatedly stay strong. Nobody can take that away or make us give up our common values, such as liberty, solidarity and respect to the personality", the European Council president stressed.
