Turkish FM offers to establish a working group on normalizing relations with Moscow
The Head of Turkey's Foreign Ministry Mevlut Cavusoglu claims that Ankara wants to create a working group on normalizing Russian and Turkish relations, news agency Anadolu reports.
"Putin says that he supports the steps of the Turkish party in the matter. We also urge to establish a joint working group with a view to discussing future steps of the parties", Cavusoglu added.
According to the Turkish Foreign Minister, this group may be "formal or informal format", but the main thing is to "reach a common way" in resolving the arisen tensions in mutual relations.
Vladimir Putin said Moscow was ready to make peace with Ankara, but Turkey should apologize for shooting down the Russian fighter jet. The relations between the countries went sour on November 24, 2015, when Russian fighter jet Fencer (NATO reporting name) was downed by the Turkish aircraft over Latakia, Syrian city.
Turkish military officials claimed that the Russian plane violated the airspace of Turkey while conducting its military operation in Syria.
