Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is paying a visit to Southeast Asia
After visiting Malaysia and meeting with the country's Prime Minister Najib Razak and high-ranking officials, Ukrainian President went to Indonesia. Upon arrival, Petro Poroshenko was greeted by his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo.
The leaders discussed a number of spheres, where cooperation was beneficial to both countries. As a result, several agreements were struck, namely, in economic, defense and education fields, and a visa-free regime for Ukrainians was agreed upon.
"We are grateful to the President of Indonesia for the decision to introduce a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens. I am sure it will promote tourism development", Poroshenko said during the joint press conference with Widodo.
Kyiv and Jakarta also signed a military cooperation agreement, which according to Poroshenko "will broaden opportunities in defense and logistics sectors".
Afterwards, the Ukrainian President also held a meeting with Head of the Yogyakarta Sultanate, Hamengkubuwono X.
During the negotiations, they have agreed to increase cooperation between the educational facilities of the two countries on the exchange of students and studying Ukrainian and Indonesian languages.
