Ukraine and Turkey ink military cooperation roadmap

Implementation plan outlines practical measures until 2020

Ukraine's and Turkey's Armed Forces have signed a military cooperation roadmap.

The implementation plan outlines practical measures, aimed at increasing the operational capabilities of Ukraine's Armed Forces, the press service of the General Staff of Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"The document has been prepared with a view to implement agreements reached between Commanders of the Ukrainian and Turkish armies in February 2016", read a statement.

The implementation plan envisages direction and scope of military cooperation between the armed forces of the two states until 2020. Among other things, it focuses on reforming and military planning, military education and training of troops, consultative and advisory assistance, cooperation between armed forces branches, the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine wrote on Facebook on late May 16.

"It is the implementation of practical measures on military cooperation that, one hand, will allow us to strengthen ties with our southern neighbour, on the other - to focus efforts on achieving the ultimate goal - to prepare Ukraine's Armed Forces for joining NATO in 2020", the General Staff said.
