France, as well as the European Union, and other international organizations have not recognized the results of elections to the Russian Duma in Crimea
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on international partners not to recognize the results of the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation because of illegal voting on the territory of the Crimean peninsula. Diplomats stressed, that this case undermines the legal status of all Russian parliament.
"Inclusion of the integral part of the sovereign territory of Ukraine into the Russian united federal constituency and creation in the Crimean peninsula of four separate single-member majority constituencies is the blunt violation of the fundamental norms and principles of international law. In this connection the voting results and the terms of office for four members of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, elected in Crimea by majority vote system, and for 225 members of parliament, elected by proportional vote system, are illegitimate as well as null and void. This puts under the further question the legitimacy of the whole State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation," MFA explained.
"We call upon not to recognize the results of elections to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation as regards to voting in the territory of the occupied Crimean peninsula. Ukraine will forward to all international partners a list of persons, involved directly in the organization of this electoral farce in Crimea, and of those who participated in the illegitimate elections for them to be included further into the sanction lists", the Ministry noted.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia has stated that elections to the State Duma of Russia in the occupied Georgian territories are illegal, RFE/RL reports. Thus Tbilisi has responded to the opening of 21 polling station in Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
The list of voters in Russian elections included 114 thousand. Residents of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Georgian authorities have called on the international community to respond to Russia's illegal actions.
The international human rights organization Freedom House also said that voting in the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation on the territory of Crimea can't legitimize the Russian government on the peninsula.
"The elections that took place in Russia as well as in the occupied Crimea does not legitimize the Russian authorities on the Ukrainian territory. This "voting" was anything but free and fair. Crimea residents could not solve who will win the election nor who will pretend to be their representatives," Vice President of Freedom House Robert Herman said.
Later deputy spokesperson of the French Foreign Ministry Alexandre Giorgini said at a briefing in Paris, that France, as well as the European Union, and other international organizations have not recognized the results of elections to the Russian State Duma, which were held in Crimea, Ukrinform reports.
"France doesn't recognize either legitimacy of holding or results of the voting taken place in Crimea on September 18. Our position is clear and consistent: France, as well as the EU and all international organizations, doesn't recognize the annexation of Crimea," the diplomat said.
As UT reported, on a day efore the elections seventh country condemned Russian ‘elections' in Crimea.
