Oleksandr Turchynov says well-armed Ukrainian military is key for European security

The state-run arms manufacturer Ukroboronprom keeps supplying the Ukrainian army with weapons and equipment. However, it is not enough to resist the aggressor. That is according to the chief of Ukraine's Security and Defence Council Oleksandr Turchynov, who made the statement after meeting his Lithuanian counterpart Daryus Yaunishkis.

According to Turchynov, what makes the situation even more complicated is the fact that Ukraine's western partners are still hesitant to arm Ukraine.

"Today all the procurements of lethal weapons are provided by the Ukrainian defence industry, but this is not enough for countering the aggressor," - he stated, adding that the strong Ukrainian army equipped with modern weapons is an important factor for peace and security in Europe.
