Poroshenko says the goal was to separate business from political influence not to avoid taxes
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko addressed the offshore fiasco during his visit to Japan.
Petro Poroshenko says his accounts are fully transparent. He also claims he did no wrong-doing and nothing was done in secret.
Ukrainian President underlined the company did not get a single penny from Ukraine.
Poroshenko also added the only purpose for the offshore registration was the separation of his business from the his political influence.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko: "The lawyers prepare the SPV (Special/Single Purpose Vehicle) where we transformed all the activities publicly and they put it and they take it in the operation for transparent, blind trust of my main property to be separated from my political activity on the time of my presidential term."
"Very transparent; the SPV (Special/Single Purpose Vehicle) has absolutely normal practice. This is doing not for minimizing the taxes, not secretly, nothing. That was absolutely, publicly appeared on Ukrainian media and registered on my name."
"This company was not opening the banking account. This company was not got a penny from Ukraine. The only purpose of that was a transparent separation business of the Ukrainian president from any political influence."
