Kyiv seeking UN approval to send peacekeeping force to the war-torn eastern regions
Ukraine's permanent representative to the United Nations, Volodymyr Yelchenko, says Ukraine has prepared all the papers necessary for the UN to adopt a decision to send a peacekeeping force to the Donbas region.
Yelchenko explained that Ukraine has already drafted documents on establishing the UN Support Office in the country, deploying the UN Secretary General's Special Envoy, as well as the UN mediatory mission.
Ukraine's representative to the UN also voiced hope that the next UN Secretary-General will treat the issue more seriously.
Earlier, the Ukrainian President stated that the European Parliament called for the deployment of an EU peacekeeping mission to ensure security in Donbas.
