Poroshenko instructed the Foreign Ministry to file a lawsuit against Russia for stealing Ukrainian resources
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on Wednesday, September 13, instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine sue for breach of arbitration proceedings against the Russian Federation to protect the rights and interests of Ukraine harmed in a result of Russian military aggression. It is stated in the message released on the Presidential website.
"I instruct the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine today to sign and send to the Russian Federation subject for arbitration under the United Nations Convention on Law of the Sea," - Poroshenko said.
He also stressed that this action is related, in particular, with robbery of Ukrainian energy resources. According to Petro Poroshenko, Russia is stealing oil and gas by extracting them on Ukrainian sea shelf near the occupied Crimea. "Truth and solid reasoning – on the side of Ukraine," he assures.
Also he blames Kremlin for polluting Ukrainian territory including the Black sea environment in outcome of construction of the Kerch bridge between Crimea and Russia.
"This is just one step of many. According to my instructions, documents on the ground of various international laws and conventions are composed for filing claims in other international courts," Poroshenko stressed on Facebook.
