Foreign Minister says visa-free travel to the EU will pave way to travelling without visas to almost 100 countries
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin is optimistic about his country's prospects to get the much anticipated visa-free travel to the European Union member states in coming months.
"For me, this is not just a technical process to travel to the European Union without visas. For me it is an acknowledgement of the membership of Ukraine and Ukrainians in the European project, European tradition, European mentality," Klimkin said.
"And by the way, after receiving the visa-free regime, Ukrainians will be able to travel without visas to almost 100 countries," the Foreign Minister added.
On August 18 Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko also voiced optimism as to the imminent visa-free European travel.
"I am convinced that the European Union will take the decision in the near future. Just a few days left before the united Europe will open its visa-free doors for the Ukrainians," the president claimed.
The European Commission officially proposed visa liberalisation for Ukraine on April 20, saying that Kyiv has complied with the requirements for visa-free travel for Ukrainians across Europe.
