Ukrainian citizen sentenced to a prison term in Russia

Serhiy Lytvynov gets eight-year term by a Rostov-on-Don court

Serhiy Lytvynov was found guilty of assaulting a Russian citizen Aleksandr Lysenko, according to a lawyer Viktor Parshutkin.

The lawyer posted the information on his Facebook page.

Lytvynov was sentenced to eight years and six months of imprisonment in a penal colony.

Serhiy Lytvynov's lawyers say they have already appealed the verdict. Moreover, Viktor Parshutkin has announced the preparation of a claim to the European Court of Human Rights to protect his client.

Russia's Investigative Committee claims that in 2014 the Ukrainian citizen by the name of Serhiy Lytvynov, while on the territory of Ukraine, conspired with two secret agents to assault Lysenko. Lytvynov offered them to commit a robbery with an AK-47 belonging to Lysenko.

The victim was injured in the process. He also was robbed of his two vehicles. According to the investigators, Lytvynov also allegedly committed several murders however, he is not being prosecuted for them.
