More than 1,5 million Ukrainians living in the USA, together with representatives of Poland, Romania, and Baltic countries can take part in the presidential elections
Valery Chaly, Ukraine's ambassador to the USA, predicts significant influence of Eastern-European diaspora at the upcoming presidential elections, reports Ukrinform.
Not everyone out of 1,5 million of Ukrainians, living in the country, is politically active. Yet, every vote of Ukrainian diaspora members could be important, because mostly Ukrainians live in the so-called swing states - like Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania. Many Ukrainians also live on the Western coast, in California, Oregon, and Washington.
The ambassador also mentioned that the diaspora has changed its preferences. Traditionally, they vote for Republicans, but now the Republican candidate causes reservations.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian diplomat mentioned that both candidates presented their position on Ukraine. "We are pleased that Ukraine is present. But, telling the truth, this is not enough", - said Valery Chaly.
