Ukrainian lawmakers attempt to fire Yatsenyuk

Ukraine's Parliament holds a session to dismiss the current government and create a new one

The Ukrainian Parliament has entered the second day of its attempts to fire the country's Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk. The lawmakers held a session on the matter yesterday but failed to reach an agreement.

The main issue of the argument remains the candidates for the ministers in the government of Volodymyr Groysman, the current head of Verkhovna Rada [Ukrainian Parliament] who has reportedly agreed to become the PM. After the list is agreed upon, the Parliament will approve Yatsenyuk's resignation.

Ukrainian lawmakers were captured on camera working late through the evening hours.

Groysman says he is ready to be the next head of the government but only if he gets to decide who will be in his Cabinet of Ministers. According to Apostrophe, not every fraction in the Parliament is happy with his choices. MP Yuriy Lutsenko says 2 candidates have not been agreed upon so far: Minister of Health as well as Energy and coal industry.

Groysman himself released a video comment on the negotiations on April 13. According to the statement, "his plan of the new government already exists, and it will probably be supported by Verkhovna Rada."

Another topic of the lawmakers' agenda is the creation of the new coalition. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko predicts it will be formed in the next few days. Members of Parliament are negotiating about a new possible agreement between Block of Petro Poroshenko, Narodny Front, Bat'kischyna, Radical Party and Samopomich.
