Ukrainian President appoints Navy Commander

On July 3 the country celebrates Navy Day

Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko officially appointed Lieutenant General Ihor Voronchenko Ukraine's Naval Forces Commander on July 3.

Voronchenko previously was the acting head of the Navy.

This is reported by presidential spokesman Svyatoslav Tseholko. 

On April 15, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree to dismiss Serhiy Haiduk from the post of Commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The President explained the dismissal of Haiduk from the post of Commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by shortcomings in implementing his official duties and low credibility.

On July 3 - today - Ukraine celebrates the Navy Day with warships parade and greetings from top officials.
