Ukrainian scouts come under mortar attack in Donbas

Three Ukrainian soldiers reported killed, one seriously injured  

A group of Ukrainian reconnaissance scouts came under mortar attack in Mariupol direction in eastern Ukraine. Three soldiers were killed and one was seriously injured, according to the Ukrainian news agency TSN.

Military officials did not comment on the situation so far.

At the same time, eight Ukrainian paratroopers were taken to hospital from the industrial zone of Avdiyivka, eastern Ukraine. One of them, a 20-year-old soldier is in a critical condition, he is seriously wounded in his head.

"His condition is serious but stable. It is a mine blast injury which affected the temporal lobe of his brain. His condition is stable, but requires further additional examination", said Ihor Tymofiychuk, neurosurgeon at a military field hospital. 

Another four soldiers suffered different arm and leg wounds, journalists talked to one of them. He said that he was wounded by grenade fragments. Five soldiers of those taken to hospital will be evacuated to Dnipro

On May 28-29, five Ukrainian soldiers were killed in the shelling, four more were wounded.
