About 700 Ukrainians reported missing in Donbas

Ukrainian security service says hundreds are unaccounted for since the war start

Almost 700 of Ukrainian nationals went missing on the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions in eastern Ukraine. That is according to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

"690 of Ukrainian citizens are missing," SBU chief Vasyl Hrytsak said on Thursday after meeting with the students of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

The number includes not only soldiers, but also volunteers, public activists and other civilians.

Hrytsak added that 127 Ukrainians are still held in captivity by Russian-backed separatist forces.
