Another 20 prisoners return to Ukraine from uncontrolled Donbas territories (photos)

Russian-backed militant forces hand over more Ukrainian inmates

Twenty convicted persons have been returned to Ukraine from uncontrolled territory in Donbas, according to the parliament's envoy for human rights.

"A new round of the transfer of 20 convicted persons from uncontrolled territory to Ukraine has taken place on the initiative of the Verkhovna Rada's ombudsperson for human rights today," the envoy's press service told UNIAN.

There are two women and one man with special needs are among them.

"This is a fifth successful operation to transfer prisoners [from militant-controlled areas to Ukraine]," the press service said.

In total, 87 convicted persons have been returned to Ukraine as of today.
