Ukraine commemorates 75 years after the mass murders in Babyn Yar, where thousands of people were executed
75 years ago Nazis started one of the most horrific slaughters of the Holocaust. On September 29th, 1941, all citizens of Kyiv with Jewish nationality were told to come to Babyn Yar at 8 in the morning with their belongings. Thousands of families formed long lines, flocking from all over the city. the Nazis took away all of their valuables and clothes and mercilessly executed everyone - from babies to grannies. During 29-30 of September, they killed more than 34 thousand jews in Kyiv, in a place called Babyn Yar.
Today Ukrainian government, foreign delegations and Kievans gather to remember those who died.
