The ceremony of 75th anniversary of the tragedy in Babyn Yar took place in Kyiv on September 29, 2016

The official part of the ceremony started with a Moment of Silence. In his speech, President Poroshenko mentioned that Babyn Yar is a mutual tragedy of both Ukrainian and Jewish nations. A quarter of all Holocaust victims - lived in Ukraine.

Poroshenko announced the creation of the first Memorial center for Holocaust victims in Ukraine. It will be built within the next two years.  On September 29, 75 years ago Nazis started executing people, mainly jews, in Babyn Yar in Kyiv. During the first two days over 34 thousand were killed.

The government of Ukraine, President Poroshenko and foreign guests - presidents of the European Council ad Germany among them, gathered in Babyn Yar to commemorate the horrible tragedy.
