Cute baby owl enters ranks of Ukrainian police officers

The rescued bird will keep a watchful eye on the public order in the city of Rivne

Ukraine's National Police has got an unusual member. The officers in the city of Rivne, that is Western Ukraine, adopted a little owl.

A couple of days ago local children found the baby bird in the forest and took it away with them. On having noticed this, the adults called the police who saved the owl. At first, the officers say, they tried to find the mother bird to return the child to the nest. Having failed to do it, they found no better solution than care about the little owl themselves.

The ornithologists say the bird is no older than two weeks. The police officers already name her Patrul'ka, which translates as little patrol officer.

The owl currently lives in the equipped garage, in about two months the bird is supposedly set to learn to fly.
