Alexander Milov joins decommunisation drive by transforming Lenin statue into Star Wars character Vader

A statue of former Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin, in Ukraine's southern city of Odesa, has been given a permanent make-over.

According to local media, Lenin's head was replaced with Darth Vader's, while the body was reinforced with new material and painted black.

The transformation of the statue, overseen by famous Odesa-based artist Alexander Milov, means the monument will not need to be dismantled.

"The Bronze Lenin was left inside, so that the grateful or not so grateful descendants could exhume him, if needed," Milov said.

Another important feature of the sculpture – a Wi-Fi router installed inside providing free internet.

Alexader Milov is also the author of an impressive sculpture showcased at this year's Burning Man festival in Nevada. The composition entitled "Love" features two wire-frame adults sitting back to back with their inner children reaching out to each other from within.
