Eurovision winner Jamala meets with Ukrainian IDPs in Lviv (photos)

Ukraine ranked fourth among countries with internally displaced people

Ukrainian singer of Crimean Tatar descent Jamala, the 2016 Eurovision contest winner, has met with internally displaced persons and Lviv residents in Ukraine's western city.

The event is organised by the Ukrainian human rights NGO Crimea SOS and Crimean Tatar cultural centre in Lviv.

A May report by the Norwegian Refugee Council and the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre ranks Ukraine fourth among the countries with the highest number of internally displaced people.

In 2015, 942,000 people were forced to leave their homes.

A total of 1.7 million people have been displaced as a result of Russia's Crimea occupation, and the conflict in east Ukraine between Ukrainian troops and Russian-backed militants.
