Ukraine prepares to celebrate its 25th Independence Anniversary
3,000 begonia and petunia plants in 3D-sculptures have been presented by landscape designers at the Spivoche Pole - an open air concert space in Kyiv.The exhibition is devoted to the 25th anniversary of Ukraine's independence. Artists from every administrative district of Kyiv presented their masterpieces honoring outstanding Ukrainians.
Landscape architects from Darnytskyi district used blue-and-yellow ribbons and bright flowers set on a metal platform, symbolizing a welded bridge. The sculpture is dedicated to Yevhen Paton, the author of this engineering innovation.
Metal heart with vertical flower beds on it honors famous Ukrainian cardio surgeon Mykola Amosov. A piano surrounded by flowers celebrates composer Mykola Lysenko.
The masters from another city district have been thoroughly preparing for the event during the last two months. They have planted and grown 20,000 flowers. Now these plants illustrate the variety of genres of Ukrainian cinema, starting with the masterpieces of Oleksandr Dovzhenko.
Three-dimensional triangle and cube next to the huge flower picture represent the art of Kazymyr Malevych. Cosmic theme with planets made from grass are in memory to Serhiy Korolyov, Ukrainian outstanding space engineer.
The most popular composition here is a flower bed symbolizing the art of Mariya Pryimachenko, a renowned Ukrainian folk art painter.
The organizers of the show say the compositions will bloom until mid-September.
