French protesters scuffle with police over labour reform

Clashes erupt as demonstrators attempt to march from the square where the rally was agreed with authorities

Demonstrators in central Paris scuffle with police as they attempt to march from the Place de la Republique square in central Paris, where the rally was agreed with authorities.

Activists, who are campaigning against the government's labour reform plans, have been gathering in the square for five nights in a row to challenge plans to loosen the country's protective labour laws that unions say favour businesses.
