Kyiv citizens face first heavy snowfall

First heavy snow covers Ukraine, causing trouble - and making people fool around

Heavy snowfall caused transport delays, including trains and airplanes in Kyiv. Around 30 trains in Ukraine had failed to operate in accordance with their schedule due to snow.

There are some airlines' delays at Kyiv airports too.

988 towns and villages in 13 Ukrainian regions suffer from power outages due to worsened weather conditions such as blizzards and black ice.

Despite these problems, Kyiv citizens are happy to see the first snow - they express joy and excitement via social media sharing their pictures of long awaited snow.

Some are childishly happy about the snow: people play Snow Angels, build snowmen and start the snowboarding season.

20 centimeters of snow were forecast before and this time the prediction was correct. People are not afraid of it and react with fun to the situation.

People in Ternopil, where the snow depth is around 60 centimeters, can't share their happy attitude with Kyiv residents, as the blizzard created snow traps in and around the city. Other Ukrainian regions suffering from a negative aftermath of snowfall are Lviv, Zhytomyr and Khmelnitsky. Around 350-400 vehicles have been stranded in these regions.
