Militants attack ATO forces 40 times in last day, use Grad systems

Fighting continues in eastern Ukraine

The combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine 40 times in the past 24 hours, using banned heavy artillery systems, according to the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO).

Late evening, the militants once again fired small arms, rocket-propelled grenades and 82mm and 120mm mortars on the Ukrainian fortified positions south of the town of Avdiyivka. They also fired 82mm mortars on ATO fortified positions near the village of Zaitseve.

According to the press center, the enemy repeatedly fired small arms and automatic mounted grenade launchers on the Ukrainian positions near the towns of Maryinka and Krasnohorivka.

In addition, according to the report, the Russian-backed mercenaries again opened fire from heavy machine guns, grenade launchers and infantry fighting vehicles on the Ukrainian soldiers near the village of Stanytsia Luhanska in Luhansk region. In the same direction, they fired automatic mounted grenade launchers on the Ukrainian fortified positions near the town of Popasna.

The occupiers also fired 82mm and 120mm mortars several times on the Ukrainian positions near the village of Novotroyitske, as well as Grad multiple rocket launchers for the first time in recent weeks. In the same sector, the Russian-terrorist gangs fired 120mm mortars and 152mm artillery systems several times on the Ukrainian fortified positions near the village of Mykolaivka.

At the same time, a firefight with a sabotage and reconnaissance group of the enemy occurred in the Mariupol sector late evening. As a result of fire contact, the enemy had to retreat.

The militants continued to violate the ceasefire since the beginning of the day. They have already attacked ATO forces 14 times along the demarcation line. In particular, the occupiers fired banned 122mm artillery systems near the village of Opytne and the town of Avdiyivka.
