Ukraine now has three surgeons who are able to perform sophisticated surgeries

For the first time ever, Ukrainian soldiers obtained bionic prosthesis here in the country, without having to leave Ukraine and go elsewhere, according to Channel 5.

Three troops who were seriously injured on the frontline in the Donbas conflict zone already received their foreign-manufactured bionic 'limbs', five more servicemen are waiting for their turn.

Earlier, military amputees would have to travel abroad for a few weeks (to be treated there), while the Ukrainian state would have to cover their trip and accommodation costs. Afterwards, Ukrainian soldiers would have to go abroad for further prosthesis correction and maintenance at their own expense…

Now, Ukraine can boast three professionals in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Lviv who have been specially trained to replace missing limbs with bio- and myoelectric prostheses (above an elbow).

The average cost of a bionic prosthesis varies from EUR 20,000 to 50 000. Currently, 24 Ukrainian soldiers need to get fitted with sophisticated artificial limbs.
Bebionic and Touchbionic arm prostheses allow a person to customize the device.
